announces a competitive selection process for the post of an
ASSISTANT
in the research staff member group
 
at the Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Genome Biology
of the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology
academic field  molecular biology
 
The competitive selection process is open for all individuals, who meet the requirements set out in Articles 113 and 116.2.4) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science, and who meet the following eligibility criteria according to § 166 of the Statute of the Jagiellonian University:
1) Holding at least a Master’s degree, Master of Science degree or an equivalent 
2) Exhibiting aptitude for research work;
3) Have relevant scientific achievements.

Additional requirements:
5) Good communication skills in English(written and spoken);
6) Experience in molecular biology techniques (especially preparation of RNA libraries for next generation sequencing, RT-qPCR);
7) experience in working with insects/non-model organisms.
 
Additional information:
The Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Genome Biology will hire a research assistant (post-doc) interested in conducting research within the project "Functional roles of somatic piRNAs and their evolution" funded by the the Polish National Science Center. The goal of the project is to understand the role of somatic piRNAs as regulators of gene expression based on an insect model. The person selected for the position, will carry out the experimental part of the project including, but not limited to, preparation of RNA libraries for next generation sequencing and gene silencing experiments (dsRNA or CRISPR/Cas9). In addition, the assistant will be involved in: grant and scientific publications preparation, supervision of students and management of laboratory resources. The job offer is for a fixed-term (3 years) employment. Preferred start time April 2022 (negotiable).

7. list of publications (along with the respective publishing houses and the number of pages), if applicable;
8. latest performance evaluation form, if the candidate was subject to such evaluation;
9. recommendation concerning the candidate’s ability to work as an academic teacher, issued by the director of the organisational unit or a scientific supervisor, including the results of student surveys and evaluations, if the candidate was subject to such evaluation, as well as recommendation concerning the candidate’s scientific work;

12. declaration under Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science;
13. declaration on acknowledging and accepting the rules and regulations concerning intellectual property management and commercialisation in force at the Jagiellonian University;
