Professor Jura graduated from the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences in Toruń in 1990. In 1990–2000 she worked at the Institute of Human Genetics in Poznań. In 1994 she obtained a PhD in biology at the K. Marcinkowski Medical College in Poznań and six years later she became a habilitated doctor at the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology of the A. Mickiewicz University in Poznań. At the time she was interested in the analysis of gene mutations and the identification of genes important in the development of selected genetic diseases. In 2014 she became a full professor. 

In 2001 professor Jura became a faculty member at the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology. Since 2013 she has been the head of the Department of General Biochemistry. Her present interests revolve round the regulation of inflammation on the molecular level and the etiology of selected diseases (metabolic syndrome, skin diseases, cancers) resulting from disruptions of inflammatory processes. 

Professor Jura did a number of research internships, both short-term (at the Institute of Human Genetics in Göttingen, the Institute of Human Genetics in Bonn, the Institute of Biomedical and Biological Sciences at the University of Glasgow and at the Oncology Laboratory at the Gaslini Institute in Genua) and long-term (Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Meddical School, Boston, USA).  

She published more than 40 experimental papers, 25 survey papers, numerous book  and textbook chapters as well as about 90 presentations given at national and international conferences. Her research has been finances by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland, National Science Center of Poland and the European Union. 

Professor Jura is a member of the Polish Society of genetics, the Polish Society of Biochemistry (since 2011 she has been the head of the Kraków Branch of the Polish Society of Biochemistry) and the European Society for Dermatological Research. In May 2014 she was chosen the Vice-Dean for Research and International Relations. Two years later she was reelected (2016–2020). In 2020 she became the Dean of FBBB.
