Rector of the Jagiellonian University announces a competitive selection process for the position of an assistant in the research staff in the Department of Cell Biology at the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow

The competitive selection process is open for all individuals, who meet the requirements set out in Articles 113 and 116.2.4) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science, and who meet the following eligibility criteria according to § 166 of the Statute of the Jagiellonian University: 

  • Holding at least a Master’s degree, Master of Science degree in biological or medical sciences disciplines; Candidates holding PhD degree will be preferred; 
  • Exhibiting attitude for research work; 
  • Having practical experience in the laboratory work including cell biology and especially molecular biology fields supported by publication record, certificates, etc.; 
  • Having practical advanced experience in molecular biology methods including techniques related to analysis and modification of DNA, and in analysis and interfering of RNA, miRNA expression; 
  • Having practical experience in performing genetic analyses including gene expression on transcriptomic level; 
  • Having experience in genetic cell modifications and gene modifications with employing techniques of cell transfection, transduction and gene editing; practical experience with CRISPR/ Cas9 system will be particularly welcome; 
  • Having an experience in cell culture methods and cell function evaluation in vitro; 
  • Exhibiting good written and oral communication skills in English.

  1. application form with a motivation letter; 
  2. CV – including a list of publications, list of experimental methods used by the Candidate in her/ his work; 
  3. recommendation letter concerning the Candidate’s scientific experience and ability to work as postdoctoral researcher, issued by a former scientific supervisor or other independent senior scientist having significant scientific achievements in the areas of biological or related sciences; additional recommendation letters will be welcome; 
  4. information on the Candidate’s scientific, teaching and organisational achievements as well as a list of scientific achievements of the Candidate; 
  5. personal questionnaire filled in by the candidate; 6. copy of the master’s (MS) diploma or a doctoral (PhD) diploma, if the Candidate holds PhD degree; 
  6. latest performance evaluation form, if the candidate was subject to such evaluation; 
  7. declaration of the candidate, confirming that the Jagiellonian University will be their primary place of work, should they be selected in the competitive selection process; 
  8. declaration under Article 113 of the Law on Higher Education and Science; 
  9. declaration on acknowledging and accepting the rules and regulations concerning intellectual property management and commercialisation in force at the Jagiellonian University; 
  10. information regarding processing of personal data.

Interviews with selected Candidates: 19th–27th of January 2021. The competitive selection process will be concluded by 31st of January 202. The Jagiellonian University does not provide housing.
